14 luxurious villas rise on the southern slope of Palenica Kościeliska, the highest peak of the Gubałówka range, at an altitude of over 1000 meters. Above is the evergreen, resin-smelling forest, below is the center of Kościelisko, one of the most beautiful towns in the Podhale region.
Zakopane tempts with its bustle, amused crowd, a multitude of inns, pubs and stalls. However, it is increasingly difficult to find peace and quiet here, and the dense buildings located in the valley mask the landscape. It is enough to drive several minutes from Krupówki to Kościelisko, up Królewska Street, to breathe in the mountain air and enjoy the majestic view of the Giewont peak.
Kościelisko was formed from a combination of former glades - shepherd settlements, which Polish Highlanders have been inhabiting for at least four hundred years. Until the mid-nineteenth century Kościelisko formed a single settlement with Zakopane. It is here (contrary to what is commonly believed, in Zakopane) that Sabała - the most famous Podhale guide, storyteller and musician, who showed and told the Tatra Mountains to the most influential people of Young Poland, was born. According to legends, the most famous Tatra outlaw - Janosik was born here, and Królewska Street was named so because it was here that King Jan Kazimierz fled from the Swedish deluge. Nowadays, these legends and rich traditions can be found at every step here. For example, it is worth going down a few hundred meters from Wille Witkacy to visit St Casimir the King's Church - the stained glass windows were designed by Jan Matejko's nephew, Stefan, and the interiors by Eugeniusz Wesołowski, one of the main architects of the Zakopane style.
The location of Wille Witkacy gives you what is most precious in the Polish Tatra Mountains: an escape from noisy civilization and breathtaking landscape as well as proximity to genuine highland tradition and countless attractions of the Podhale region: ski trails, mountain hiking trails, climbing trails and bicycle routes, stables, playgrounds, thermal pools. In a few minutes or so you can reach Szymoszkowa Glade, Witow, Biały Potok Glade, Gubałówka, cross-country skiing trails, climbing routes, and even to Slovakia. The whole Tatras are at your fingertips.
